The annual Ash Parish Fun Day 2013 this year was held on Saturday 13th July.
The event once again being organised by the staff of Ash Parish
Council and held at the Ash Centre and the adjacent Recreation Ground
in Ash Hill Road, Ash.
This year the weather was on our side with a fantastically sunny day all day,
with temperatures reaching 30 degrees celcius. The first dry Fun Day for at least three years.
The event was
officially opened by a the Mayor of Guildford Councillor Diana Lockyer-Nibbs and an "all sorts" Chairman of Ash Parish Council, Councillor Nigel Manning.
The days events got under way with the
judging of the various flower, vegetable, flower arranging, baking and craft,
including a photographic class, competitions. For a list of class winners

The show class winners, together with the second
and third placed entries will receive their winning certificates
during the Ash in Bloom 2013 awards evening to be held in September.
The central arena events started with a loud beat with a fantastic drum display given by The Oku Nojo Daiko - Japanese Drummers.
The Central Arena also saw the welcome return of the Sandhurst and District Corps of Drums after a break of 2 years.
Arena displays were also given by The Phoenix Dance Crew and The Briar School of Dance. Also well received was the Tug of War won once again by a team from Mytchett Althletic football club.

Unit, once again performed a sterling job joining the whole
afternoon together by providing a running commentary and music and
Ash Parish Council would like to thank them accordingly.
There were many different different stalls, stands
and displays representing various charities and local groups and
organisations from in and around the village. These stalls included
the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Ash U3A, and Ash Floral Club to
name but a few.
A new display this year was a Punch and Judy Show together with a magic show.
included a burger bar and of course the beer and wine tent supplied by Ash Parish Council and operated on our behalf by members of the Ash and Blackwater Valley Rotasry Club .
Councillor Nigel Manning officially closed the
event by thanking all participants for taking part.
Finally with the 2013 Fun Day now over the council
staff can take a small break before beginning preperations for Christmas
Fantasia 2013 and Ash Fun Day 2014. Please remember to keep returning
